Site Visit - PJ Trade Centre

I went to PJ Trade Centre to explore and experience the architecture in this building. It was really inspiring seeing that there are so many ways to make a building to be interesting.

The exterior of the building.

It was very quiet in this area due to the workers are still working during that time.

The long and silent walkway.

It was new to see iron mesh being used as a type of flooring.

The interior design of the building creates the good atmosphere.

I hope that there's still more site visit like this in the future.

Design Studio 1

Project 1(a)
In our first project, we were asked to make a model that represent ourselves.
The starting point for architecture is to learn how to express and think with an abstract way.

Project 1(b)
We have to make a 1 to 1 model using only cardboard to create a space for ourselves in group of 3. To master the human anthropology is crucial to create a good space.
The name of the model is 'The Zone'. It's a pathway to show the curiosity of a person.

The back view of the model.

Project 1(c)
We were given 1 month time for this project and before making our individual model, everyone was being grouped into group of 5 that required to work together to build a site model based on the movie with name of 'Ghost In The Shell'.

One of the screenshot in 'Ghost In The Shell' that my group based on for our site model.

After working on the site model, each of us were asked to make an individual model. Before developing into my final design, I have made a few study models.Through this project I learned how to make a scaled model properly, together with combining the skills I learned from other subjects to complete this whole project.

Architectural Culture & History 1

Project 1
Each of us in the group was asked to create an individual board based on the given site , Chartres Cathedral. It was really interesting to trace all the pictures. I know more about the background of this wonderful Gothic style cathedral through this project.

Project 2
After the project 1, another task was given to my group, which is to make a model of Chartres Cathedral by using balsa wood. The process to create it was quite fun and I learned more about the details of the structure of Chartres Cathedral.

Building Materials

Project 1(a)
It was really mind refreshing to have a chance to visit the chosen site, Tropicana Metropark, together with exposing oneself to more types of building materials.

Two group material boards.
After completing the group materials boards, each of us are required to do our own individual board for a chosen space in the site. It was a good experience to see and explore more about building materials.

The individual board.
Project 1(b)
This project is integrated with our Design Studio final project. We were asked to find out and justify the suitable building materials for our own design. I personally think that it's a good way for us to learn more about building materials. Through this project i realized that there are still a lot of building materials that yet to be discovered by me.
